Prof. Orjan Hansson, from the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, Gothenburg University, Gothenburg (Sweden), who is part of the Board Members of the International PhD programme  in Chemical Sciences will held from July 3 to July 5 a Course for all PhD students entitled: The role of dioxygen in the biosphere

The course will be structured in 3 lessons of 2 h each, according to the following schedule:

Lecture 1, Tuesday, July 3rd, 15.00-17.00 AULA B,Molecular properties (quantum chemical calculations) Occurrence (past and present)

Lecture 2, Wednesday, July 4th, 10.00-12.00 AULA A, Transport (diffusion, carrier molecules) Production (photosynthesis)

Lecture 3, Thursday, July 5th, 10.00-12.00 AULA A, Consumption (biological combustion) ROS and biological defense

At the end of the course each student should individually write a short essay (1-2 pages) in English on a part of the course that they find interesting and connected to their own project. The essay should be emailed as a pdf-file on Thursday, July 12th, at the latest to Orjan.Hansson@chem.gu.se for evaluation.
