The DSC Celebrates the 2026 National Day of Chemists and Physicists: Expertise and Innovation at the Service of the Country

On May 20, the spotlight will be on the strategic role of chemistry and physics in health, safety, and environmental protection.

On May 20, 2026, the National Day of Chemists and Physicists will be celebrated, a key event dedicated to highlighting the strategic role of Chemistry and Physics professionals in the country’s progress. 

This year’s national event, promoted by the National Federation of the Orders of Chemists and Physicists (FNCF), will take place in Rome at the prestigious Sala Zuccari of Palazzo Giustiniani (Italian Senate) and will be centered around the theme: “Chemists and Physicists: A Strategic Role for the Country. Expertise, Ethics, and Responsibility for Health, Safety, Environment, and Innovation”.

The Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Catania (DSC), long recognized as a center of excellence in the education of future professionals in the field and in cutting-edge research, joins the celebrations. This day represents an important opportunity to reaffirm that chemical and physical expertise is not confined to laboratories, but forms the backbone of responses to major global challenges: from the ecological transition to public health, from workplace safety to the new frontiers of technology and materials.
