The Department of Chemical Sciences (DSC) of the University of Catania promotes the internationalization of teaching, research, and advanced training in line with the University's Strategic Plan and the quality indicators of the AVA3 system.

Excellence Programme – Bioinspired Chemistry

Within the EUNICE alliance, students of the Master's Degree in Chemical Sciences can participate in the Excellence Programme in Bioinspired Chemistry, an internationally certified excellence track (60 ECTS) based on mobility, shared teaching activities and international summer schools.

The programme promotes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of materials and processes inspired by natural systems, a field of increasing importance for sustainable innovation. EUNICE EP Bioinspired Chemistry

Erasmus Mundus Design Measures – IBISA (completed)

The Department participated in the project IBISA – Innovative Bio-Inspired Materials for Sustainable Applications, within the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures action (ERASMUS-EDU-2021-EMJM-DESIGN).

The project aimed to design a future international Joint Master on bio-inspired materials for sustainable applications, integrating interdisciplinary expertise in chemistry, nanotechnology, biotechnology, bioengineering and environmental sciences.

The international consortium included Universidad de Cantabria (Spain – Coordinator), University of Catania, Poznan University of Technology (Poland), Linköping University (Sweden), and Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (France).

The project contributed to strengthening the internationalization of the Department’s teaching activities and European academic cooperation. Official IBISA Project Website

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)

BIPs combine physical and virtual mobility among European partner universities.

PhD Students and Researchers Mobility

The Department promotes international mobility for PhD students of the PhD Programme in Chemical Sciences through participation in European programmes such as Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA).

Open Calls

The deadlines for Erasmus STA (staff teaching mobility) and STT (staff training mobility) calls for the academic year 2025–2026 have been reopened. Mobilities must be completed by 31/07/2026.

The deadline for submitting applications is 03/04/2026.
