Conference: Quantum Chemistry on the Centenary of Schrödinger’s Equation

From May 25 to 26, 2026, starting at 2:30 PM, the conference Quantum Chemistry on the Centenary of Schrödinger’s Equation will take place at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Palazzo Corsini, Via della Lungara 10, Rome).

In 1926, Erwin Schrödinger, with the formulation of his famous equation, enabled the development of theoretical and computational methods that were later extended to molecular sciences, effectively marking the birth of quantum chemistry. In the following decades, these advances accompanied—and often stimulated—the emergence of computer science, together with revolutionary applications in materials science and biochemistry. In the latter field, in particular, they contributed to major breakthroughs, culminating in discoveries recently recognized with Nobel Prizes.

The conference focuses on the mathematical and formal developments, as well as the algorithms, that have made these applications possible. It is organized into three main thematic sections:
- a first part dedicated to historical aspects and theoretical foundations;
- a second part focused on isolated molecules, with emphasis on elementary processes and gas-phase reactivity;
- a third part devoted to molecular structure and dynamics in condensed phases.

In addition to invited lectures, the program includes additional contributions and flash communications, providing young researchers with an important opportunity to present their results and interact with the scientific community.

The meeting is open to all participants. Registration is requested via the following form:
