The University of Catania actively participates in the EUNICE Excellence Programme, high-level international study paths combining advanced teaching, academic mobility, and collaborative research. Among the most significant initiatives is the Excellence Programme in Bioinspired Chemistry, developed in collaboration with European universities and associated partners.

Program Structure

  • International Summer School – 6 ECTS: intensive sessions rotating among partner universities on emerging topics in bioinspired chemistry
  • In-person courses – 12 ECTS: at UNICT
  • Online shared courses – 12 ECTS: courses offered by partner universities followed through Erasmus virtual mobility
  • Thesis mobility – 30 ECTS: research periods at partner laboratories through Erasmus+ Traineeship or co-supervised thesis projects
Timeline A.Y. 2026–2027
  • 7–11 September 2026: Summer School in Catania (6 ECTS)
  • November 2026 – January 2027: Online shared courses (12 ECTS)
  • February – July 2027: Master's thesis at partner universities (Erasmus+ Traineeship, 30 ECTS)

EUNICE Certified Path (60 ECTS)

Path with Thesis Mobility

The call is open to a maximum of 5 UNICT students per path, with priority given to first-year students of the Master's Degree in Chemical Sciences.

European Degree

The program contributes to the development of the European Higher Education Area, promoting mobility, international collaboration, and the creation of joint European degrees (European Degree). It trains researchers and professionals able to tackle global challenges with an interdisciplinary, international, and innovation-oriented approach.
