Summer School EUNICE: Biomimetic Chemistry and Green Nanotechnologies

7–11 September 2026 · Scuola Superiore di Catania

The Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Catania is hosting the Summer School Biomimetic Chemistry and Green Nanotechnologies, dedicated to bioinspired chemistry, green nanotechnologies, and the development of innovative and sustainable solutions inspired by the principles of Nature. The initiative is organised within the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) of the Department of Chemical Sciences and the EUNICE Excellence Programme in Bioinspired Chemistry, coordinated by the University of Mons, with the participation of Poznan University of Technology and the University of Catania.

The Summer School brings together in Catania 31 students from six European universities, together with lecturers and researchers from the EUNICE Alliance, creating an international and interdisciplinary environment for education, research, and the development of future collaborations.

The programme explores topics including the principles of bioinspired chemistry and green chemistry, advanced materials, nanotechnologies, catalysis, and applications in healthcare, energy, and environmental sustainability.

The Summer School also provides an important opportunity to promote international mobility, knowledge exchange, and the development of internships and Master's thesis projects at EUNICE partner universities, contributing to the creation of a truly European knowledge ecosystem.

The Department of Chemical Sciences plays a central role in the design and implementation of the Summer School, contributing both to the development of its scientific programme and to the organisation of the initiative.
