Vittorio Scardaci graduated in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Catania in July 2004 with marks 110/110 summa cum laude. In October 2004 he started a PhD at the University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering, which was awarded in February 2009. During this time his work was mainly focussed on the development of nanocomposite materials based on Carbon nanotubes for applications in photonic devices. His work also focussed on the liquid phase dispersion of Carbon based nanomaterials and their spectroscopic characterizazion, mainly Raman, absorption and photoluminescence. In February 2008 he joined Hewlett-Packard in Ireland, where he worked on the development of transparent conductors and sensors based on nanomaterial networks, mainly Carbon nanotubes and metallic nanowires. Such research projects are carried out within a partnership with Trinity College Dublin, publicly funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). From 2013 his work steered towards Inkjet technology related projects and was mainly focussed on materials and ink compatibility. In 2018 he was awarded a Specialist Diploma in Medical Device Science from the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway with top marks and on October 1st the started his job as a Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, University of Catania. His research activity has so far produced more than 50 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals with an h-index of 27 and more than 22000 citations. He is also co-inventor of 2 patents and co-author of 1 book chapter.
