Thermodynamic and Spectroscopic Studies of bio-functional ligand metal complexes and Speciation in aqueous solution

The analysis of the distribution of species shows the implications of a correct speciation on data interpretation and experiment planning More? (dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.ccr.2011.07.012 +  dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.ccr.2012.03.038 + dx.doi.org/10.1002/chem.201101364 + dx.doi.org/10.1002/chem.201100313)

Optimization of calorimetric systems

It is shown that the first point anomaly (circle) of an ITC titration is for the vast majority due to a backlash effect in the drive screw mechanism of the syringe. More? Link to dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00216-012-6565-7

A new software has been developed that allows for the simultaneous determination, from data obtained by isothermal titration calorimetry, of both standard enthalpy of reaction and binding constant values; the program can deal with multiple titrations. More? Link to  dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00216-016-9759-6

Use of new carriers for the removal or detection of undesired species

A PIM transport system with a substituted calix[4]arene carrier 1 has been established that provides selective Hg(II) transfer from an aqueous source phase containing Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II) into an aqueous receiving phase. More? dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.memsci.2008.07.004 + dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00216-012-6378-8dx.doi.org/10.1039/C3RA43988G

Chimica Supramolecolare

Data obtained independently by NMR, UV-vis, and isothermal titration calorimetry measure different components of the internal and external guest binding to the host and provide a complete picture of the solution thermodynamics only when analyzed together. More? Link dx.doi.org/10.1021/ja9056739 + dx.doi.org/10.1002/chem.201703202

NMR, MS and ITC data demonstrate that a simple calixarene-based host forms a homodimeric capsule-like compartments in neutral aqueous solution. More? Link to dx.doi.org/10.1039/c0cc02394a + dx.doi.org/10.1039/c1cc11211b + dx.doi.org/10.1039/c4ra09353d. Also gadolinium-based metallacrowns form supramolecular capsule-like compartments with both aromatic and aliphatic dicarboxylates in aqueous solution at neutral pH. More?
