42nd PhD Cycle – UNICT PhD Open Session
The PhD Programme in Chemical Sciences invites undergraduate students, graduating students, graduates, and all interested candidates to attend the UNICT PhD Open Session, an event dedicated to the presentation of the Call for Applications for the 42nd Cycle of PhD Programmes at the University of Catania.
The event provides an excellent opportunity to discover the University's doctoral programmes, explore research opportunities, international collaborations, interdisciplinary pathways, and the professional development prospects offered by doctoral education.
The PhD Programme in Chemical Sciences
During the event, the Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Chemical Sciences, Prof. Salvatore Scirè, will present the key features of the programme, including its educational objectives, career opportunities, main research areas, academic structure (specialized courses, seminars, and transferable skills training), and its strong international dimension.
The presentation, supported by multimedia material and video interviews, will be complemented by testimonials from current PhD candidates and early-career PhD graduates, who will share their experiences and highlight the strengths of the PhD Programme in Chemical Sciences, the scientific and professional development opportunities it offers, and the value of pursuing research in a multidisciplinary and international environment.
Participants will also learn about collaboration opportunities with research institutions, public organizations, and industry through presentations by representatives of leading national and international partners, including INFN, INGV, CNR, STMicroelectronics, Neodata Group, STLab, Ambiens S.r.l., Oasi Maria SS. Onlus, and the Federal University of Viçosa (Brazil).
The event will open with welcome addresses by the Rector, Prof. Enrico Foti, and the Vice-Rector, Prof. Lina Scalisi, followed by presentations from the Delegate for PhD Programmes, Prof. Stefania Mazzone, the Director General, Dr. Corrado Spinella, and the Head of the Research Area, Dr. Giuseppe Caruso.
