Graziella Vecchio’s research activity is primarily in the field of bioinorganic chemistry. Specifically, her work has focused on the synthesis of bioactive cyclodextrins functionalized with chelating systems and their metal complexes.
She has also worked on the design of glyco-conjugates of metal-ion chelators, exploiting the properties of sugars to recognize receptors in biological systems, with biomedical applications such as anti-tumor activity, anti-platelet aggregation, and antibiotic adjuvants.
More recently, her research has focused on the synthesis of cyclodextrin-based nanoparticles, functionalized with chelators and targeting agents, for drug delivery and other biomedical applications.
Her research also includes the synthesis of coordination compounds as potential chemotherapeutic agents.
Collaborations: Italian and International research groups, CNR, and some Italian Hospitals (Genoa, Crotone, Lecco).
